Partnering the Great to do Good
Working closely with our partners to build a better and brighter future together
Bintang Capital Partners’ relationship with our family of companies is founded upon trust and partnership.
We know that the journey of entrepreneurship is more enjoyable and rewarding when true partnership is involved.
We work closely with our partner companies to find new opportunities and overcome obstacles, and we look forward to celebrating successes and milestones together.
We aspire to turn our collaborations with entrepreneurs and their teams into lifelong impactful partnerships that last well beyond the horizon of our investments.
Our Investment Criteria
-
Our mandate does not permit us to invest in startup / early stage / venture / greenfield type companies or businesses. Prospective investees must have established revenue profiles and ideally be profitable (or have a high visibility and imminent profitability pathway), but require additional capital to fuel more rapid growth or expansion (of which there must be identifiable and clearly articulated opportunities).
-
We typically only consider companies where revenues meet or exceed a minimum of USD 3 million equivalent. Exceptions may be made in situations where companies have demonstrated historically high revenue growth trajectories AND have high existing profit margins.
-
In addition to the commercial mandate requirements above, as the first B Corp certified private equity firm in Southeast Asia, we are also a highly committed impact investor. Hence, all prospective investments must have a strong impact rationale (whether social or environmental). Each investee must commit to securing B Corp certification within 2 years of Bintang's investment deployment.
-
Bintang does not invest in infrastructure deals / assets.
-
Bintang's mandate is restricted to ASEAN countries only, with a specific focus on Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Vietnam. We are presently unable to consider investments that are based outside Southeast Asia.
BCP Asia Fund I
Bintang's inaugural blind-pool fund is a growth-oriented impact-focused private equity fund anchored by Penjana Kapital, an investment arm of the Ministry of Finance, Malaysia.
The fund invests in Malaysian and ASEAN companies that are able to demonstrate tangible economic benefits to Malaysia.
The fund targets investments that embody Bintang's core Triple-I Strategy of "Investing in Impact and Innovation".
All prospective investees of the fund must commit to obtaining B Corp Certification within a pre-set timeline.
